Bantams Win League Title

The 2018-2019 MCYHL Bantam Champions

Congratulations to our Bantam Warriors who defeated Rockaway to be named MCYHL league champions.

The Warriors came out scoring with a 4:17 shorthanded goal in the 1stperiod by Christian Cuccia. Rockaway quickly answered just one minute later, ending the first in a 1-1 tie with two shorthanded goals.

Severyn Khomyak took advantage of a power play in the 2ndperiod to score and take the Warriors to a 2-1 lead. This was quickly followed by another Cuccia goal ending the second period with a 3-1 Warriors lead.

Starting the third period strong, Cuccia scored the fourth Warriors goal just one minute into the period. Rockaway responded two minutes later making it a 4-2 game.

The Warriors however were not to be deterred when Sawyer Flynn (Gillette) answered Rockaway immediately after the faceoff with a tip into the corner of the net taking the Warriors to a solid 5-2 lead.

This final Warriors goal revved things up in what had been, up to this point, a solid lead by the Warriors. Fired up, Rockaway scored three unanswered goals to tie the game at 5-5 with only 5 minutes left in the game. At 4:25, Cuccia came in strong to score the winning goal for the Warriors. With a final score of 6-5, the Watchung Hills Jr. Warriors Hockey Club took home another Bantam championship trophy.

Bantams Advance to Finals

Congratulations to our Bantams who have secured their spot in their MCYHL champtionship game.

After a tight 4-3 win against Beacon Hit our 13-1-4 Bantams will be moving on to play Rockaway for the Morris County Youth Hockey championship.

Up 2-0 at the end of the first period, the Warriors gave up 3 goals in the second to put them down 3-2. With only 1:47 left in the game the Warriors scored back-to-back goals to take a 4-3 lead and win the game.

Congratulations to coaches Dan Gallant and Brian Marino and of course our players who never gave up.

The final game of the season will be played February 22 at 7:30 at Mennen Arena against Rockaway.

The Warriors celebrate their win.
